Condolence Meeting in New Jersey for former Union Minister
The Indian community led by APTA (Andhra Pradesh Telugu Association) had a condolence meeting for former Union Minister and Governor Late Shri P.Shiv Shankar in New Jersey on April 8th at Nalla Bheem Restaurant in Edison. The event was attended by over 100 people.
Late P.Shiv Shankar rose from very humble background to occupy important positions in the Governments of Late Smt.Indira Gandhi and Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. He was also Governor during the regime of Late P.V.Narasimha Rao and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha in 1998. He was considered a legal czar and expert in constitutional law. He was a strong voice for the weaker sections of the society and was known to be a very principled and ethical man.
The condolence meeting in New Jersey was attended by Late Shiv Shankar’s son Dr.Vinay and other important community leaders. Rajender Dichpally (National General Secretarty of Overseas Congress) praised the role of Late Shiv Shankar in getting judicial reforms in India as Law Minister and also the great progress made in foreign relations during his tenure as External Affairs Minister Under Late Rajiv Gandhi. Dr.Vinay (Son of Late Shiv Shankar) said that it was his father’s dream to empower the weaker sections of the society and he will work in fulfilling this objective. He also spoke on the struggled and success achieved by his late Father. Mr.Subramanium – President of New Jersey chapter of Andhra Preadesh Telugu Association spoke on the services of Late Shiv Shankar in helping many downtrodden people during his tenure as Union Minister and Governor
