The Chief Minister met with the AP Tourism, Culture & Heritage Board, and reviewed the projects being undertaken across the state.
Propaganda India, a branding agency, has taken up the rebranding and marketing of Andhra Pradesh Tourism. They proposed logos, taglines and different ideas on how to position the identity of the state’s tourism quotient, and were asked to present more options in the next meeting.
The Chief Minister launched an association with Times of India to start “Happy Streets” in Kurnool, Vizag, Vijayawada and Guntur on every Sunday.
Anantpur Racecar Resort
A luxury resort with a 3.2 km racing track and an Automotive Theme Park will be set up in Kodapalli, Anantapur. The resort will cost ₹149 crore and provide employment to 360 people. Spread across 245 acres, the resort will attract tourists from Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The project overview included a 3 star resort, a 5-hole golf course and driving range, a sports complex and a helipad.
The project is taken up by Marquee One, and is promoted by Anush Chakravarthi, a professional racecar driver and Govindarajan Chakravarthi, from Anuadi Constructions. They assured the Chief Minister that the project will position Andhra Pradesh as a globally recognized tourist destination.
Car racing has a national TV viewership of 8 crore in India, and has only 2 racing circuits in India: Chennai and Greater Noida.
Conservation of Kondapalli Fort
Representatives from Dronah presented a detailed plan to conserve the fort and its surroundings, which includes a proposal to showcase it as a heritage destination with a museum-cum-exhibition area of international standards.
They will be following the styles of both the original architects of the fort, the Reddy dynasty and Qutub Shahi. The fort occupies 400 acre of land, including reserved forest land. However, the project will be limited to 8 acres.
The Chief Minister suggested them to develop a master plan for reviving and protecting the surrounding 400 acre reserved forest land.
They also said that they will take extra steps to popularize Kondapalli dolls.
The demonstration project, which cost about ₹4 crore will include conservation, restaurant area, pathways, public amenities, light and sound show, projected mapping and augmented reality.
The tourism department officials also proposed to revive and develop some other forts in other districts. Kangundi Fort in Chittoor, Kondaveedu Fort and Bellamkonda Fort in Guntur and Kundurpi Fort in Anantapur are the forts being considered by the officials.
“I will extend my support to preserve our heritage. It is our duty to conserve such rich culture”, said the Chief Minister.
He told representatives from Dronah that they should explore opportunities to protect and preserve other heritage sites like Undavalli Caves and Buddhist circuits.
Kalakshetra Auditorium
The proposal to construct Kalakshetra Auditorium in the premises of Ghantasala Government Music and Dance College in Durgapuram was presented for the Chief Minister’s perusal.
The auditorium is estimated to cost Rs. 10 crore, and will replace the existing one across a build-up area of 12,396 sq metres, in the 3.06 acre land allotted.
It will include all modern facilities including a fire safety system, CCTV, audio-visual technology, mini conference halls, meeting rooms and spacious parking.
It will cater to the needs of artists of all art forms and serve as a crucial centre for the promotion of Art and Culture.
Grand Theater/Cultural Complex at Pavitra Sangam
A cultural complex or a grand theatre is proposed to be established in Pavitra Sangam in Ibrahimpatnam. The Revenue Department has handed over 35.6 acres of land to APCCC.
Officials also proposed that it will be named after Rabindranath Tagore and will be called Tagore Cultural Complex.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to work out a more detailed plan for the project, for establishing the best performing arts centre.
Havelock Bridge Development
The plan to protect and conserve Havelock Bridge was presented to the Chief Minister. They also presented a proposal for the adaptive reuse of the bridge, which is commercially viable.
This can be achieved by developing the bridge which connects and caters to both East and West Godavari districts as a common civic space.
The proposed uses for the bridge include walking, jogging, cycling, fishing and recreational activities.
Water Sports Policy
The department also presented the Water Sports Policy for Tourism Service projects.
Water sports and allied activities like boats, jet skiing, water skiing, wind surfing, sailing, kayaking, scuba diving and others will be promoted through this policy, says officials from the Tourism department.
The policy aims to create employment opportunities, unique experiences for tourists and fruitful utilisation of the water wealth in the state.
A single agency can apply as a sole entity, to partner with the state and promote the different water sports.
The Chief Minister said, “Take the suggestions from pioneers in water sports all over the world, and find out how to explore potential to the maximum.”
Laser Show with Musical Fountain
In Bhavani Island, there will be a Musical Dancing fountain integrated with Multimedia Laser Show for a minimum audience of 250 people. The project will cost ₹16 crore, and will be completed in 20 days.
It will be 75m long and 40m high, with two 5W and one 10W lasers will create mesmerizing shows, with a unique feature of a water screen.
Zoom Car launched in Tirupati
Based out of Bangalore, Zoom prepaid self-driven cars was officially launched for Tirupati. The Chief Minister welcomed the company into their third city in Andhra Pradesh, after Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
