High level Japanese delegation meets CBN to discuss various collaborations
A high level delegation led by His Excellency Yosuke Takagi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan visited Andhra Pradesh today to participate in the Andhra Pradesh – Japan Public Private Joint Conference 2017 organized by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
The delegation which includes companies as diverse as Toshiba, Nippon, Sumitomo, Fuji, Kobelco, JFE Engineering, NEDO and MLIT are determined to partner and invest in Andhra Pradesh. They would like to extend cooperation in sectors such as infrastructure, urban development, transportation, energy, sustainable infrastructure, smart cities, cloud computing and disaster prevention solutions.
Earlier during a bilateral meeting held between His Excellency Yosuke Takagi and the Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Minister for State Economy informed that Japanese companies are keen on collaborating in five specific sectors which include, data center and cloud computing, disaster prevention systems by radar, traffic decongestion systems, water supply system and sewage treatment system as part of smart infrastructure to be installed in Amaravati and Vijayawada.
It was also decided that Japan and Andhra Pradesh shall start the pre-feasibility study regarding ICT architectural master plan of nine cities of Amaravati. JICA will study a ‘Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Study for AP Capital Region’.
Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) expressed support to design master plans for the sports city and electronics city in Amaravati.
Andhra Pradesh and Japan welcomed the suggestion of MLIT regarding the development of a port in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) will identify the possibilities of collaboration in Japanese advanced technology in smart community, renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy storage.
METI Japan which has nominated companies to conduct studies on technologies to be deployed in Amaravati presented their outcomes to the Chief Minister in today’s conference.
The Internet Initiative of Japan (IIJ Company) is keen on collaborating with the state to establish a state-of-the-art modular data centers with high efficiency and low energy consumption.
Similarly, companies have also has proposed to implement a comprehensive strategy to tackle disaster management in the capital city and ensure high quality of clean potable water.
In addition to the above, they also proposed a state-of-the-art Traffic signal system that would de-congest Vijayawada signals to ease its multiple road network and constraints.
The Chief Minister in his closing remarks informed the delegation that Andhra Pradesh is keen to work closely with Japan in the development of manufacturing supply chain and also towards the development of the Japanese Industrial Corridor.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that Andhra Pradesh looks forward to build a long term, strategic and strong bond with Japan.
“My Government is fully committed to facilitate Japanese investments into Andhra Pradesh by providing the most conducive business environment. The Economic Development Board will be leading delegations to Japan to promote investments into Andhra Pradesh and I request His Excellency Mr. Takagi, to extend fullest cooperation by introducing leading CEO s who could be approached for investing in the state.
The Chief Minister also assured continued personal commitment to Japanese investors and companies besides inviting them to do more business in Andhra Pradesh.
A Joint Statement was made today between the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan and The Government of Andhra Pradesh, India, on the development of new capital city and industrial cooperation.
The Joint Statement was signed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and Hon’ble Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Yosuke Takagi in Vijayawada.
This Joint Statement was also made to confirm the progress of actions under the previous Memorandum of Cooperation’s signed between two sides on 28th November 2014 and on 22nd October 2015.
Through this Joint Statement, Japan and Andhra Pradesh agree to collaborate on the following areas
- Development of the New State Capital Region
- Industrial Clusters and Logistical Network
- Cooperation on Human Resources Development
- Industrial Cooperation on Smart Energy Sector
