CM Teleconference with Officials on Neeru Pragathi
CM ensures 100% wetting to all the crops this season

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu held a teleconference and videoconference simultaneously with all the government officials and field level officers this morning at the Velagapudi Secretariat.
The Chief Minister held detailed discussion about the various activities which are being taken up under the ‘Neeru – Pragathi Udyamam- 90 Rojulu campaign’ announced by the Government for water conservation. He ordered that appraisal reports from all officers at all levels be submitted regularly about the campaign.
This campaign which is being held from 20th April to 20th July 2017 will involve government and non government functionaries, college and university students and faculty and NGO’s.
The Chief Minister ordered the minor irrigation department to take up jungle clearance of all the tanks and send the photos and drone video of the cleared jungle to the department.
Besides this, de-silting, improving and restoration of all tanks should be taken up on war footing, the Chief Minister added.
The Chief Minister said that the government will develop 500 cascades including interlinking of all tanks within the cascade.
The government aims at constructing as many as 14890 check dams on streams and minor rivers in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh. Likewise it is also proposed to construct 1,04,000 number of farm ponds in the State.
The Chief Minister has urged all the department officials to come together and work with a vision during the campaign days. He added that officials should work with commitment and bring this campaign to a logical end.
Later, the Chief Minister monitored the real time ground water levels. He said that 1254 automatic digital water level recorders with telemetry in piezometers have been installed for monitoring ground water levels. 261 madals out of 670 show groundwater levels deeper than 15 meters.
The rural development department was asked to construct 7,10,649 water harvesting structures and take up soil moisture conservation works at the earliest.
Similarly, the forest department was asked to take up tree plantation activities on a large scale during this summer.
The Chief Minister has urged everyone to take up water conservation and storage activities this summer. Rain guns, mobile lift irrigation should be used to the maximum extent possible to provide water to crops.
“We have a clear vision. Our government is determined to provide water security to meet the drinking and irrigation needs of the State. Now that summer is in its peaks we have to be ready and ensure that not a single crop goes dry. 100 % wetting to all the crops in our State is our goal for this summer,” said the Chief Minister in his concluding remarks.
