CM reviews proposal to transform area near Rajiv Gandhi Park
Route from bus and railway stations to the Kanakadurga temple will get a complete makeover
The path for pilgrims must be green and convenient, says AP CM
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister met officials of Amaravathi Development Corporation (ADC) at the Secretariat. They proposed a new infrastructure project for the area in and around Rajiv Gandhi Park to be transformed into a special, highly connected and green zone.
This project is expected to connect the Kanakadurga temple, the railway station, the bus stand, Prakasam Barrage, and seamlessly connect these areas to the three canals.
Catering to the Chief Minister’s vision of making the pathway from the bus and railway stations to the Kanakadurga temple convenient for the pilgrims, the ADC team proposed a grandiose plan including a transport system with pod taxis (suspended, driverless, electrically-operated taxis).
They proposed a green route, with walkways, public seating areas, an amphitheatre, plazas for a craft market along the lengths of the canals. The plan also contains jetty stations and many design plans for greenery in the vicinity of the walking trails.
The waterfronts are going to be designed with panache, as ADC presented animations of the proposed idea to rejuvenate the canal front. The plan also includes retail malls, hotels, convention centres and high street areas.
The Chief Minister agreed to see the next draft of the proposal, which will follow extensive research, and the implementation of some of CM’s suggestions
