AP CM Meets British High Commissioner
On Wednesday, the British High Commissioner, Sir Dominic Asquith met the Chief Minister to discuss the interests of British companies to invest in the city of Amaravathi.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the British firms Foster+Partners, TransStadia and one of the largest water treatment companies from Britain.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness with the partnership with Foster+Partners in many infrastructure projects, and hopes that the firm will continue to support building the city of Amaravathi.
He also urged the High Commissioner that more British companies must continue to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, since Amaravathi is sure to bring high yields in the near future.
Officials from TransStadia also spoke to the Chief Minister regarding the set up of a convention centre in Amaravathi, similar toStadiArena, recently completed in Ahmedabad.
The proposal included facilities for around 60 sporting activities, and an indoor arena that seats 4,000 people. The Chief Minister asked the officials to coordinate with the GoAP, to finalise the land allocation at the earliest, so that work can be commenced.
“Amaravathi should host one of the Olympics in the future. I am sure StadiArena will make that come true”, said the Chief Minister.
He said, “Andhra Pradesh has been the home to many sports legends of India. And I want to provide the youth with the best coaching facilities to compete worldwide.”
