Dance for a Smile: Performed by Indian Children
My name is Vinita Cheepurupalli, and I am the daughter of Naidu and Satya Cheepurupalli. I am a senior at Spring Valley High School, and I am emailing you about Dance For A Smile, a dance program where Indian children are performing classical dance and music in order to raise money for children who need cleft lip surgery in developing countries. The event is held at Spring Valley High School auditorium on September 9from 3PM – 7PM. The entrance fee is $10 per person and is free for children under age 10. Traditional Indian food will be served after the program. All proceeds go to the nonprofit organization SmileTrain, which does cleft repair surgery in third world countries.
Smile Train is an international children’s charity which aims to help children with cleft lip. Cleft lip is a genetic disorder that makes a split in the babies’ lip or mouth. It can cause infections and make it hard for children to eat, breath or speak. Smile Train sends trained doctors to do free corrective surgery to fix the cleft lip. It costs $250 per surgery, and with our dance program, we hope to raise enough money for Smile Train to give 10 smiles.
Attached is a flyer with important information about the program.
