TAGC 2018 Ugadi & Srirama Navami Celebrations
TAGC-Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (i.e. the first Telugu association in North America) has celebrated Ugadi and Sri Rama Navami celebrations with more than 1000 plus guests on 14thApr, 2018 at Streamwood High School Auditorium, Streamwood IL (Chicago, USA). The event was a grand success with over whelming response from Telugu community from Greater Chicago area with more than 325 local participants who performed 35 variety of programs. The program high lights includes Kids Comedy Skit, Bala Ramayanam, tribute to Sridevi, special Programs based on Ugadi and SriRama Navami theme as well as many classical programs & dances. These programs were well received by the audience with great response during the performances. TAGC President Jyothi Chintalapani admired the Cultural Committee Chair Ranga Reddy Lenkala, Co-Chairs Uma Avadhuta, Swetha Janamanchi, Madhavi Konakolla for their dedication & hard work as well as successful execution of the event. The cultural committee members and coordinators were working for 6 weeks to prepare for this event.
The Auditorium was well decorated with welcome banners by decoration committee led by Vani Yentrintala and the stage was decorated with the TAGC Ugadi banner specifically made in India which covered the full stage. TAGC membership committee led by Praveen Vemulapalli and Mamatha Lankala streamlined the registration process. Youth volunteers took an active role in checking the guests at Membership desk.
TAGC President Jyothi Chintalapani started the program with Lord Ganesha prayer, along with the cultural team and Board of Directors.
Mr. Ashok Lakshamanan from PMSI, President Jyothi Chintalapani , Past President Pradeep Kandimalla and Youth Chair Avinash Latupalli honored youth members with Presidential Volunteer Service Award(PVSA) certificates for those who volunteered at various nonprofit organizations.
Food committee Chair Srinivas Kandru with team & volunteers did a tireless job in serving dinner for such a mass crowd in the allocated time. Tasty dinner was served with a variety of food items co-sponsored by Hyderabad House restaurant Management from the Schaumburg & Naperville locations. Board of Directors Anji Reddy Kandimalla and Sampath Sapthagiri played a critical role in food transportation and hot pizza arrangements.
Traditional Ugadhi pachadi was offered during the dinner.
TAGC President Jyothi Chintalapani thanked the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and volunteers who have worked for weeks in planning and preparations to make this event memorable. She also thanked all the participants, their parents, teachers, and the guests for their enthusiastic show of support throughout the evening. She also conveyed her gratitude and thanks to sponsors for giving back to the community and requested TAGC members to make use of services provided by sponsors.
