Polavaram review held by the CM
The Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu today held a review meeting on the progress of the Polavaram project and also reviewed the progress of the other major irrigation projects as well.
As on today a total of 3386 workers are on site. Of which 1565 of them are technical workers and 1821 are non-technical workers. The Chief Minister held detail discussion on the safety measure taken up for the workers and ordered that safety boots, face masks, helmet and other protective measure be given for the workers at site.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the excavation works schedule have been revised based on the prevailing environmental conditions, machine mobilization and availability of working days in this season (before monsoon) and they added that the revised schedule will not change the completion date of the project.
While the target set for spill channel and spill way concreting work for the previous week that is from 17th to 23rd April is 8.68 lakh cubic meters but the progress achieved remains at 6.26 lakh cubic meters. The Chief Minister has asked the Triveni group to gear up to complete the shortfall of 2.42 lakh cubic meters in the coming days.
The target set for excavations in left flank, approach channel and pilot channel is 2.88 lakh cubic meters, 1.40 lakh cubic meters and 1.05 lakh cubic meters respectively.
But the progress achieved remains at 0.29 at left plank, 0.54 at approach channel and 0.49 at pilot channel.
The Chief Minister pointed out that there is a shortfall of 4.01 lakh cubic meters by the contractor Transstroy and the balance quantity of excavation as on today is 174.54 lakh cubic meters.
The target set for overall excavation work is 14.01 lakh cubic meters and the progress achieved is 7.58 lakh cubic meters and the shortfall noted was 6.43 lakh cubic meters.
The next week’s target that is from 24th to 30th April for earthwork excavation is 8.75 lakh cubic meters at the spill channel which needs to be completed by Triveni.
3.15 lakh cubic meters at left flank, 1.40 lakh cubic meters at approach channel and 1.05 lakh cubic meters at pilot channel are the targets set for the contractor Transstory.
With regard to concreting works at spillway and stilling basin the executed amount is 0.32 lakh cubic meters and the balance remains at 15.72 lakh cubic meters.
The progress of diaphragm wall during the period 17th to 23rd is 26.8 m while the target set was 28 m.
The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the delay of works in ongoing irrigation project works.
The Chief Minister in his earlier meeting ordered the department to take up widening of HNSS- Phase 1 main canal. Today the CE informed the Chief Minister that tenders were called and that the works will be completed within three months.
Coming to HNSS Phase II, the officials informed the Chief Minister that the construction of railway under pass at Nagasamudram Gate and at Putaparti is being carried out at brisk pace. Both these works would be completed by April end.
With regard to Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project, the Chief Minister said that the works of the head regulator at the entry sides of both the tunnels be completed as early as possible. Design & Drawings of Head Regulator at the inlet of Tunnel-I & Tunnel-II are submitted to the CE/CDO for approval.
Inter linking of Rivers Vamsadhara and Nagavali through High Level Canal taking off from Hiramandalam reservoir and joining on the upstream of Narayanapuram Anicut were discussed by the Chief Minister.
Later the Chief Minister also enquired from the officials with regard to the interlinking of the Rivers in Vizianagaram District.
It is proposed to link Champavathi with Nagavali through Right Main Canal of Thotapalli Barrage Project by connecting the tail end of the Right Main Canal of Thotapalli Barrage Project with Gadigedda Reservoir by dropping the tail end of the canal in to a drain leading to the Gadigedda Reservoir and improving the Gadigedda Reservoir. DPRs are under finizalization.
