Hindu prayer in Nebraska Speaker Chamber
The Speaker of the Legislature of the State of Nebraska Senator Jim Scheer invited Dr. Phani Tej Adidam to offer the opening prayer of the Legislature on January 29th 2020. This was the first time that a Hindu prayer was read in the Chamber since it’s establishment in 1855. It was a proud moment for Sanatan Dharma, and Dr. Adidam, who is a voluntary priest in the Hindu Temple Omaha, and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees created history by chanting verses from the RigVeda and Brihadaranyaka Upanishad in Sanskrit, and then translating the same in English. The Senators and staff sergeants were very pleased that the chamber was filled by these holy vibrations.
The Speaker awarded the Great Seal of State of Nebraska to Dr. Adidam as a mark of respect and gratitude.
