Centuryply Solidifies Strategic Growth in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh: Centuryply (I) Ltd has significantly deepened its footprint in Andhra Pradesh through its state-of-the-art integrated plant located in Badvel, Kadapa district. Representing a massive initial investment of ₹1,000 crore, this 100-acre facility marks a cornerstone of the company’s expansion strategy within the region. Since commencing commercial operations for medium density fibreboard (MDF) in 2024, the plant has allowed the company to more than double its production capacity, scaling from 900 to 1,900 cubic meters.
Andhra Pradesh as an Investment Hub:
The commitment to the state was highlighted during an event hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata. Shri Nara Lokesh, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Electronics, Communication, and HRD, Government of Andhra Pradesh, emphasized the state’s emergence as a premier destination for industrial growth. Minister Nara Lokesh outlined the “Three S” pillars that define Andhra Pradesh’s business climate: Speed, Stability, and Service. He noted that the government views investor projects as its own, ensuring a collaborative partnership to solve problems and deliver on promises. “Andhra Pradesh today is a $220 billion economy, and we are aiming for a $2.4 trillion economy,” the Minister stated, inviting further investments to join the state’s growth trajectory.
Socio-Economic Impact and Sustainability:
The Badvel unit is not only an industrial achievement but a significant driver of local economic development. The plant has provided direct employment to approximately 2,200 people. Furthermore, Centuryply sources raw materials directly from local farmers in the Badvel region. To ensure long-term sustainability, the company is spearheading an initiative to encourage farmers to cultivate wood-yielding trees across 80,000 acres over the next eight years. Currently, 1,000 farmers have already begun this process on 5,000 acres, supported by subsidized tree saplings provided by the company.
A Vision for the Future:
Shri Keshav Bhajanka, Vice President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of Century Plyboards (I) Ltd., lauded the leadership of Minister Nara Lokesh, noting that the vision and strategic foresight of the Minister have been instrumental in attracting regional interest to Andhra Pradesh. As the company continues to scale its operations in Badvel, the partnership stands as a model for how industrial expansion can foster rural prosperity and environmental stewardship.
