Uber Expands to 100 New Cities Across India, Launching Operations in 10 New Telangana Locations

Hyderabad:  Ride-hailing major Uber has announced one of its largest domestic expansions, extending its footprint to 100 additional cities and bringing its total network coverage to over 225 cities nationwide. As part of this rollout, Uber has launched operations in 10 new cities across Telangana, initially anchoring its presence through the deployment of Uber Bike services to support affordable everyday transit and first- and last-mile connectivity.

The nationwide expansion spans 18 states and one Union Territory, extending reach into Tier-II and Tier-III markets from Jammu in the north to Tirunelveli in the south, and Silchar in the east to Jamnagar in the west.

Timed around India’s Independence Day celebrations, the initiative aims to bridge mobility gaps in emerging urban centers while creating flexible earning opportunities for tens of thousands of local drivers using two-wheelers they already own.

He highlighted that the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025 offer a clear framework for states to adopt bike taxis and alternative mobility solutions, while emphasizing the importance of aligning growth with road safety through initiatives like the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan.

He emphasized that Uber Bike is uniquely suited for these markets, delivering accessible transportation options while generating sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Safety Infrastructure: Every Uber Bike trip includes in-app safety protocols such as Real-time Driver ID Check, an in-app SOS Button, Share Trip Status, and a 24×7 Safety Line.

Multimodal Integration: The expansion supports Uber’s broader goal of building a multimodal transport network in India, linking bike and auto options with cars, airport rides, intercity travel, and public transit connections.

First Ride Free Promotion: To mark Independence Day, new riders across the country can take their first Uber ride free for a limited period.
