TAL 20th Anniversary and Ugadi Celebrations
London, UK – The Telugu Association of London (TAL) celebrated its landmark 20th Anniversary and Ugadi festival on April 26, 2025, at the Lakeview Marquee in East London — an event described by many as a “celebration that reflects the values of TAL and bringing home closer to them.”The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 1,000 attendees from across the UK, marking one of the largest gatherings in TAL’s history with the highlight being live concert by Ram Miriyala.
Event convenor Ravindar Reddy Gummakonda and Cultural Trustee Sreedevi Aleddula commenced the celebrations with a solemn minute’s silence to honour the victims of the Phalgam tragedy, the late Pope, and other departed souls, reflecting TAL’s deep sense of community and compassion.
In a special commemorative segment, the Chairman Ravi Sabba honoured all the former Trustees, Chairpersons, and Ugadi Convenors for their outstanding contributions to TAL’s two-decade journey. Volunteers, who played a pivotal role in this charitable organisation’s continued success, were also recognised for their tireless efforts. Adding to the historic moment, Founder President Dr. RamuluDasoju was awarded with TAL Community Leadership Awardrecognising Dr. Dasoju’s enduring service and contributions to the Telugu community in the United Kingdom. The current Chairman Ravi Sabba, along with Board of Trustees, founder members – Sridhar Vanam, Ramanaidu Boyalla have presented this award and felicitated Dr. Ramuluwho was joined by his wife Swadesh Dasoju.
The evening teleported the audience into a world of music with electrifying live concert by renowned artist Ram Miriyala with his band, leaving them energised and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
The whole programme was anchored by actress Bhanusree. Students from TAL’s Cultural Centre (TCC) showcased their fine arts talents with vibrant performances, demonstrating TAL’s commitment to nurturing and preserving Telugu traditions among the next generation. These were complemented by performances by local and international professional artists including classical acts like Yakshaganam which added to the grandeur.
Another highlight of the evening was the unveiling of TAL’s annual souvenir magazine, “Maa Telugu”. Surya Kandukuri who spear headed the team expressed heartfelt thanks to the chief editor Ramesh Kalavala and the editorial board.
The rich history of TAL was brought to life through a photo gallery exhibition, which captured the organisation’s milestones, memorable events, and key moments over the past two decades.
The celebrations also served as a memorable reunion for alumni, Trustees, volunteers, and members, offering a special opportunity to reconnect and celebrate shared memories.
As part of the event, sports in-charge Satya Peddireddy has kick started TAL Premier League (TPL) T20 Cricket season. Chief guest Ram Miriyala unveiled the 2025 Champion’s trophy.
Fundraising Trustees Venkat Neela and Ravi Mocherla have thanked all the sponsors for their generous contributions and felicitated them.
Reflecting on the occasion, Chairman Ravi Sabba expressed his pride, stating “It is truly an honour to be part of an organisation that has served and united the Telugu community in the UK for the past 20 years. Our journey has been one of passion, dedication, and cultural pride. This is more than a celebration — it’s a tribute to every Telugu heart that kept our language, values, and traditions alive, thousands of miles away from home.”
Cultural Trustee Sreedevi Aleddula expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team, the Board of Trustees, Venkat Neela, Anil Ananthula, Ravikumar Mocherla, Ashok Madishetti, Kiran Kappeta and Roy Boppana for their commitment and hard work in delivering this event. She also extended sincere thanks to all the volunteers and special thanks to Bharathi Kandukuri, Balaji Callur, Giridhar Putlur, Laxman Kota, Kishore Kasturi, Pavan Thirunagani, Vasu Mayreddy, Vijay Belide, who have all contributed and made this event a grand success.
Since its inception, TAL has been committed to preserving and promoting Telugu culture in the UK through education, service, and vibrant community initiatives. TAL is not just an association.
