IndusInd General Insurance Appoints Sharad Mathur As Managing Director And CEO Following Statutory Approval

IndusInd General Insurance Company Limited, formerly known as Reliance General Insurance Company Limited and part of the IndusInd International Holdings Limited Group, announced the appointment of Sharad Mathur as its Managing Director and CEO following statutory approvals. Sharad brings three decades of experience in the insurance and financial services industry, possessing a strong track record in organizational transformation, distribution expansion, technology-led innovation, growth, and governance.

Prior to joining IndusInd General Insurance, he served as the Managing Director and CEO of Universal Sompo General Insurance for over six years, where he led its transformation and strengthened its distribution, risk management, underwriting discipline, and technology-led customer servicing capabilities. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions at SBI General Insurance and ICICI Lombard, contributing to their growth from their formative stages. At IndusInd General Insurance, Sharad will lead the next phase of transformation and growth with a focus on customer centricity, digital innovation, insurance inclusion, profitable growth, and strong governance.

His priorities include enhancing customer experience, strengthening distribution partnerships, and building a resilient, technology-enabled, and customer-focused organization. Sharad is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Directors and a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors India, and he has completed executive leadership and compliance programs at the University of Pennsylvania, the Indian School of Business, Harvard Business, and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. His appointment reinforces the company commitment to building a stronger, more accessible, and customer-centric insurance business while creating sustainable long-term value for customers, partners, and stakeholders.
