Experts Advocate Prevention, Early Detection, and Community Awareness at World Heart Day Conference
Ahead of World Heart Day 2026, the Illness to Wellness Foundation hosted a conference in New Delhi titled “Healthy Heart for a Healthy Life” to emphasize early detection, healthy habits, and community participation. Dr. T.S. Kler highlighted the need for structured preventive cardiovascular programs from the government, noting that preventive strategies must address broader environmental and lifestyle hazards such as air and noise pollution, stubble burning, rising stress, and changing work habits. Similarly, Dr. Ganesh Kumar Mani stressed that cardiology must shift its focus toward proactive prevention, early intervention, and everyday lifestyle modifications rather than responding only after health problems arise.
Emergency Preparedness and Daily Wellness Choices:
Dr. K.K. Talwar underscored the critical importance of immediate action during cardiac emergencies, advocating for widespread community CPR training so bystanders can deliver prompt assistance while awaiting medical help. Mr. Anil Rajput noted that cultivating a culture of wellbeing involves everyday choices concerning nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and adequate rest, while Dr. Gautam Singal remarked that translating knowledge into consistent daily habits remains key to effective prevention.
Expert Panel Discussions on Diagnostics and Holistic Care:
The conference featured two specialized panel sessions covering essential aspects of cardiovascular care:
Know Your Numbers for Heart Care: Moderated by Dr. Vinayak Agarwal and Dr. Krishan Yadav with expert contributions from Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Dr. Rahul Chandola, and Dr. Vanita Arora, this session focused on routine monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar, and lipid profiles to identify cardiovascular risks early and encourage community-wide screening.
Heart Care through Holistic Wellness: Moderated by Dr. Rajesh Kesari with insights from Dr. Jyoti Keswani, Dr. Mohit Dayal Gupta, Ms. Seema Singh, Dr. Tanu Singh, Mr. Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, and Ms. Samaddar, the second panel explored the benefits of balanced nutrition, physical activity, weight management, Ayurveda, mindfulness, meditation, and quality sleep for long-term heart health.
