SUNFO Commemorates WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (WED)

Theme: “Solutions to plastic pollution” on 5 June 2023

"An estimated 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste are dumped in lakes, rivers and seas annually. Discarded single-use plastic harms human health, the economy, the environment and threatens sustainable development.

Under the theme #BeatPlasticPollution, World Environment Day 2023 provides an opportunity to raise the volume on the call for governments, cities and businesses to invest in and implement solutions to ending plastic pollution."

Awareness Programme & 50 Tree Planting Campaign for the 50th Anniversary of WED (1973-2023) held at Daybridge International School-Dehiwala-Sri Lanka parllel to the Official Launch of WED 2023with H.E.Patrick Achi, Prime Minister, Côte d’Ivoire and other Environmental leaders. At the Sri Lanka event SUNFO Director General Dr.Deshapriya S. Wijetunge, General Manager Farms Lanka Mr.Clarance Mendis. Environmental Lawyer of BASL Mr. Weerasinghe and several students were spooked. Sustainable Diplomacy Governor Ms.Iromi Weerasinghe, Teachers, students and SDG Activists participated.
