Intelligence Dept Foils Plot to Topple Vijay-Led TVK Government in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil Nadu State Intelligence Department has broken up a major political conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the newly formed state government led by actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). According to intelligence officials, the covert operation was designed to collapse the ruling administration within a tight two-month window by orchestrating the coordinated resignation of 15 TVK Member of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs).
The high-stakes political plot unraveled after a sitting lawmaker approached the authorities, prompting a swift multi-city crackdown. Law enforcement officials have already arrested three individuals: one employee of a private consultancy firm was apprehended in Trichy, while two other co-conspirators were detained in Chennai. Preliminary interrogations have revealed that one of the arrested suspects maintains direct operational ties with prominent Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Senthil Balaji and his brother.
The ₹35 Crore Offer That Blew the Cover
The conspiracy officially came to light when N. Ilayaraja, the TVK MLA representing the Uthangarai constituency, filed a formal criminal complaint with the Chennai Police. Ilayaraja alleged that a representative from a private political and corporate consultancy firm named IPDS approached him with an aggressive financial offer. The operative reportedly offered a massive bribe of ₹35 crore in exchange for the lawmaker’s vote in support of an upcoming no-confidence motion aimed at removing the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and senior TVK leader, JCD Prabhakar. The legislator further stated that when he hesitated, the operative resorted to intimidation tactics, threatening him with severe consequences if he disclosed the financial offer to his party high command or the media.
TVK Launches Scathing Attack on DMK-AIADMK Alliance
The arrests have triggered a massive political firestorm in the state. Reacting sharply to the intelligence breakthroughs, TVK Minister CT Nirmal Kumar launched a fierce attack against the opposition, directly accusing top DMK leaders of executing horse-trading operations.
Nirmal Kumar alleged that the notorious “Karur Gang” and individuals directly linked to Senthil Balaji were operating on explicit instructions from DMK chief MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin. He claimed that opposition operatives have actively systematically targeted almost every single TVK lawmaker, dangling massive financial incentives ranging between ₹10 crore and ₹50 crore to switch allegiances. Furthermore, the Minister leveled a sensational charge that the DMK had joined hands behind the scenes with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to collectively orchestrate the collapse of the TVK government.
DMK Rubbishes Charges, Dares Government to Make Arrests
The DMK has vehemently rejected the bribery and horse-trading allegations, dismissing them as a desperate fabrication designed to malign the opposition’s image. DMK spokesperson A. Saravanan countered the narrative, accusing the TVK administration of intentionally leaking half-baked, confidential intelligence briefings to the press to manipulate public perception. Saravanan stated that the ruling party’s allegations lack factual substance and issued an open challenge to the state police forces, daring them to formally arrest Senthil Balaji if they possess concrete, legally admissible evidence connecting him to the alleged IPDS consultancy conspiracy. As the political standoff intensifies, special investigative teams are currently tracking financial trails to unearth the wider network funding the failed political coup.
