Sonia Gandhi’s autobiography is coming out in book form…
A book about senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is coming out for readers. This will be in the form of her autobiography. International publishing firm Alfred A. Knopf announced that this book, titled ‘Belonging: A Journey of Love’, is scheduled to be released on November 10. In this book, Sonia is going to share many details about her life—from her romance with Rajiv during her student days to her marriage and coming to India. Details such as her love with Rajiv, marriage, and coming to India have been included in this book. Sonia explained how major tragedies—such as the assassination of her mother-in-law, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in 1984, followed by the assassination of her husband Rajiv Gandhi just seven years later in 1991—changed her life.
Additionally, the book details Gandhi’s journey from her childhood in Italy to entering the Nehru-Gandhi family through marriage, the personal tragedies that shaped her life, and finally her entry into Indian politics. “Much has been written about my family, but very few works reveal the facts regarding their motivations, actions, and the inherent human weaknesses within them,” Gandhi stated in a statement released by the publisher.
Describing this book of memoirs as a tribute to the humanity in her family, Gandhi stated that it also offers her perspective on the social and political changes she has witnessed in India over the past six decades. “In many ways, this book is a tribute to their humanity. Also, my story offers readers a unique perspective on the social and political changes I have witnessed over six decades in that beautiful country which I consider my own home,” Sonia stated.
