Amarnath Yatra Begins: Here Are the Five Rules Suggested by PM Modi
The sacred Amarnath Yatra for the darshan of the ice stalagmite (Himalingam) has officially begun. The first batch of devotees traveling via the Baltal route was accorded a grand welcome at Chanderkote on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The Ramban district administration, members of civil society, and various organizations extended a warm and hospitable welcome to the pilgrims. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the convoy for this annual pilgrimage from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.
The district administration has taken all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage. Essential amenities and food arrangements have been made available for the devotees at the Chanderkote Langar site. Multiple departments, including the Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Traffic Police, Health Department, Fire, and Emergency Services, have been put on high alert.
PM Modi Writes a Letter to Devotees
On the occasion of the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a letter to the devotees. Greeting them with “Hara Hara Mahadev… Jai Baba Barfani,” he stated that participating in the Amarnath Yatra is a great privilege. He added that devotees coming together with a unified resolve reflects the true spirit of Indian spirituality.
The Five Resolves Suggested by PM Modi to Pilgrims
1. Cleanliness (Swachhata): He urged every individual to maintain cleanliness along the pilgrimage route and contribute to the cleanliness drive.
2. Adhering to Safety Regulations: Pilgrims must strictly follow the instructions, traffic rules, and safety guidelines issued by the authorities. Special care should be taken regarding weather conditions such as rain, slippery paths, and cold temperatures.
3. Priority to Local Products: Embracing the spirit of “Vocal for Local,” the Prime Minister requested devotees to spend at least 10% of their travel budget on purchasing local products. He noted that this would support the livelihood of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
4. Gifting a Sapling: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, which marks the conclusion of the Yatra, he suggested that devotees gift a sapling to their brother or sister, thereby supporting the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of Mother) initiative.
5. Contributing to National Development: With the spirit of “Nation First,” everyone should perform their duties honestly and actively participate in building a developed India (Viksit Bharat).
PM Modi expressed his wishes for a safe and auspicious journey for all devotees and prayed that the blessings of Baba Amarnath remain upon every pilgrim.
