Netflix Launches NextGen India Writers’ Program to Nurture Emerging Creative Talent
Netflix India has officially launched the “Netflix NextGen India Writers’ Program,” a strategic talent development initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing emerging writers. India has become the third country globally, following France and the Netherlands, to host this prestigious initiative. The program is designed to provide new writers with the necessary tools and mentorship to transform their creative ideas into potential Netflix series.
Commitment to Fresh Creative Voices:
This program builds upon Netflix’s consistent track record of investing in fresh perspectives and bold storytelling ambitions within India. The company has previously supported new talent through various notable projects, including:
The Railway Men, an acclaimed series directed by Shiv Rawail.
The Bads of Bollywood by Aryan Khan.
Operation Safed Sagar, an ambitious upcoming project featuring creators Abhijeet Singh Parmar, Kushal Srivastava, Oni Sen, and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar.
Program Details and Mentorship:
The two-month hybrid program is specifically open to writers who possess a maximum of three years of professional writing experience. Selected participants will receive comprehensive support, including mentorship, workshops, and hands-on guidance from industry professionals. By the end of the term, writers will have learned to evolve their original ideas into professional-grade series bibles.
Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating that it is their way of discovering voices early, investing in their potential, and providing the space for writers to develop their craft. Applications for the program are currently open and will be accepted until September 1, 2026.
