TAMA (Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta) celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day at TAMA office on August 15th in a grandeur way. Even though it was a working day (Tuesday), around 270 adults, children, seniors and youth participated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm, which is quite remarkable.  Honorable guests retired Major General Dr. R. Siva Kumar, Professor Dr. P. K. Raju, Major Sri. K. Govindaraj, Professor Dr. Krishna Murthy Vadlamudi, Government employee Smt. Bharani, retired Air Force employee, Johns Creek Council member Sri. Bob Erramilli, Air Force employee Sri. Dev Rapuri and Navy employee Smt. Kanya Kumari hoisted the flag, followed by singing the national anthem by everyone and saluting the flag. People from other organizations also embraced the event. TAMA has undertaken many useful programs for all ages, today’s program is 18th in 2023. TAMA President Sairam Karumani introduced all the guests to the gathering. Dr. Siva Kumar elaborated on the uniqueness of Independence Day and shared his Army experiences. Sri. Govindaraj said that even if courage and stamina are low, youngsters can join the army and uniform will teach them everything. Sri. P. K. Raju shared his long career experiences and his association with former President Sri. Abdul Kalam. Dr. Krishna Murthy said, it is fabulous to see so many children and youth participation and reiterated the importance of teaching them history. Likewise, Smt. Bharani. Sri. Dev and Smt. Kanya Kumari elaborated on the glory and sacrifices of Independence Day and praised the Free Clinic, Manabadi, Festivals, Youth and Health related programs run by TAMA. Sri. Bob Erramilli mentioned that youth should work for a few days in the American or any other country’s army, whenever possible. Everyone congratulated TAMA for bringing so many diverse experts together  at one place. All the guests were felicitated grandly.

National songs were sung not only by children but also by adults. Also, representatives of TAMA Manabadi spoke about the need for Telugu language and shared the details of upcoming classes. Water, Chocolates, Punugulu, Pakodi, Tea were provided to all. Attendees were very appreciative of TAMA, for organizing Indian national festivals consistently for many years. They were also glad to meet, talk and take photos with esteemed guests and were saying, TAMA reminds them of India in many ways. Such gestures are always encouraging for the TAMA team and helps in coming up with much better activities. TAMA Board Chairman Subbarao Maddali in his closing speech thanked the guests, volunteers, TAMA team and those present for making the celebrations a monumental success.
