TAL Sankranti Celebrations 2025 in London

Telugu Association of London (TAL) hosted Sankranti events in East and West London venues on Sunday, 19th January and Saturday, 25th January, 2024. The joyous celebrations drew over 1200 attendees from London and surrounding areas. These events, held in East and West London venues showcased traditional customs and cultural performances, immersing everyone in the festive spirit of Sankranti. The air crackled with excitement as participants engaged in a variety of activities, including Bommala Koluvu, Bhogi Pallu, Rangoli Competition, Cookery Competition, Kite Making Competitions.
In East London, Mayor of Redbridge Council Cllr Sheila Bain who was the Chief Guest of the program, lauded TAL’s commitment to the community. She praised the association’s vital service projects and commended its dedication to celebrating cultural diversity. Cllr Balwinder Dhillon, Mayor of Slough, who witnessed the festivities as the chief guest of the West London event, talking on the occasion, said that the youth needs to embrace their cultural roots and praised TALs commitment to bringing this culture closer to the younger generation and keeping it alive.
It is notable that women members of TAL, led by Uma Geervani, Himabindu, Mrudhula, Harika, Swathi, Sangeetha, Prashanti, Veda, Swapna, Harini, Rajani, Anitha, Sindhu, Vani and Shazma have hosted these successful events with the help and support from the pillars of the community, Giridhar, Sridhar S, Ravi V, Ravi D, Balaji C, Laxman, Venkat Neela, Anil Ananthula and Roy Boppana. Fundraising efforts were spearheaded by Trustees Venkat Neela, Ravi Kumar Reddy Mocherla and Treasurer Anil Ananthula, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed sponsors for their generous support in making this event a grand success.
Vice Chairman Kiran Kappeta expressed his deepest gratitude to parents, members, and dedicated volunteers for their unwavering support and contributions to every program undertaken by TAL. Trustee Mr. Ashok Madishetti shed light on the diverse training classes offered by the TAL Cultural Center (TCC). From traditional dance and music to language instruction, these classes provide a vibrant platform for individuals of all ages to connect with their Telugu heritage.
Giridhar Putlur, Sridhar Somisetty, Ravi Vasa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated volunteers: Murali K, Vijay, Ravi D, Wajid, Charan G, Pavan, Venkat B, Praveen K, Sreedhar N and numerous other volunteers. Their commitment and hard work ensured every aspect of the celebration, from the enchanting Bommala Koluvu decorations to the electrifying rangoli competition, was a resounding success. TAL Trustees Anil Anantula, Ravi Kumar Reddy Mocherla, Sreedevi Aledulla, Venkat Neela, Ashok Madishetti and IT- in charge Roy Boppana also lent their invaluable support, ensuring the smooth flow of the event.
The days unfolded as a vibrant showcase of traditional performances, captivating song-and-dance routines, and mouthwatering dishes that beautifully represented the rich and diverse flavors of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
