Emotion and Visuals are not different in my mind
While filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli remains occupied with the production of his ambitious feature Varanasi, he is also closely overseeing Baahubali: The Eternal War, the upcoming animated feature directed by Ishan Shukla. Speaking about the project, Rajamouli said expanding the Baahubali universe has been a natural process, as its mythology and history were already extensively developed. He added that once he was convinced Shukla had a strong understanding of the world and its characters, he stepped back and gave the filmmaker complete creative freedom.
Rajamouli believes the film’s biggest strength lies in blending the Baahubali universe with the concept of the 14 realms from Indian mythology. Calling it an important step for India’s animation industry, he expressed confidence that global audiences who embraced Baahubali and RRR would also welcome this animated expansion.
Sharing his filmmaking philosophy, Rajamouli said emotion is the true foundation of cinematic spectacle. “If emotion is the seed, the massive visual spectacle is the tree that grows from it,” he explained. According to him, the stronger the emotional core of a story, the grander its visual world becomes. He added that the team is working to make Baahubali: The Eternal War a world class animated cinematic experience.
