They Stole a Brand-New RTC Bus… But a Puncture Ruined Their Getaway!
We have heard about bikes being stolen. We have heard about cars being stolen. But have you ever heard of someone stealing an entire RTC bus? That is exactly what happened in Maharashtra. Some thieves entered a depot, spotted a brand-new bus and apparently thought, “This is our ride!” They started the bus and simply drove away.
The incident took place at the Jamner ST Depot in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. On Monday night, some people entered the depot and quietly moved towards the newly parked bus. They started it and drove it out of the depot without raising much suspicion. No ticket, no booking, no permission — just straight-up drive!
For some distance, everything went smoothly. The bus was moving and the thieves probably thought their plan was working perfectly. But then came a twist that was clearly not part of their script. The tyre got punctured.
That one puncture changed everything. The thieves could not continue driving the bus, so they abandoned it near a village and escaped. Imagine stealing an entire RTC bus and then having to leave it behind because of a tyre puncture. The grand theft plan suddenly turned into a roadside problem.
Meanwhile, officials at the depot were shocked when they discovered that the new bus was missing. They checked the CCTV footage and found that some people had entered the depot and driven the bus away. The officials then informed the police, who registered a case and started investigating the incident.
But now, the bigger question is not just about the thieves. Where was the depot security? How did someone manage to drive a huge RTC bus out of the depot without anyone stopping them? Was there no checking at the gate? Did nobody notice a brand-new bus leaving the depot in the middle of the night?
For the thieves, stealing the bus may have looked like a big-brain move. But the bus itself seems to have had a different plan. It was almost as if the tyre said, “Bro, that’s far enough. I’m done!” And just like that, the getaway came to an unexpected halt.
Police are now examining the CCTV footage and trying to identify the people involved. RTC officials are also looking into the security arrangements at the depot to find out how the bus was taken out so easily.
So, the thieves had the idea, started the bus, drove it out of the depot and hit the road. Everything looked fine until the tyre decided to enter the story. The police didn’t stop the getaway. The puncture did.
And if there is one unexpected hero in this bizarre theft story, it has to be that bus tyre!
