SVICCAR Raises Cancer Awareness Among Students of Sri City Schools

The Sri Venkateswara Institute of Cancer Care & Advanced Research (SVICCAR), Tirupati, a unit of the TATA Cancer Care Foundation, in collaboration with the Sri City Foundation, organized an impactful awareness program on ‘Cervical Cancer & its Vaccine and Tobacco Issues’ for students from various schools in Sri City on Wednesday. The campaign was tailored to students of grade 7 and above, with separate sessions held at their respective schools, viz., Accord School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, ZP High School, Madanapalem, and ZP High School, Irugulam.
A four-member team from SVICCAR, headed by Dr. Venkaiah Babu, delivered comprehensive insights on cervical cancer, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, and the dangers of tobacco use. Their informative presentations aimed to educate and empower young minds about these crucial health topics. The experts stressed the significance of early HPV vaccination and outlined preventive measures against tobacco consumption. They encouraged students to embrace healthy lifestyles and remain aware of the risks related to these health concerns.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City, stated, “Prevention is better than cure. We proudly support SVICCAR's mission to educate our youth about cervical cancer and the risks of tobacco. By empowering them with knowledge about cancer and preventive measures, we are proactively fostering a healthier, stronger community in Sri City.”
