Indian Diaspora Celebrates BJP’s Historic Victory in West Bengal, Assam & Puducherry
Over 600 Indian Americans Gathered at Royal Albert Palace, Edison, NJ to Mark Defining Moment in India’s Democratic Journey
Edison, NJ — May 15, 2026 — Overseas Friends of BJP-USA (OFBJP-USA) hosted a grand victory celebration on May 15, 2026 at the Royal Albert Palace in Edison, NJ drawing more than 600 men, women, and children from across the tri-state Indian American community.
The gathering celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s historic win in West Bengal — it’s first ever — alongside resounding victories in Assam and Puducherry, where the BJP-led NDA secured a third and second consecutive term, respectively. The hall was packed to capacity, and the mood was jubilant as supporters greeted each result with sustained applause.
Shri Mayank Nayak, Member of Parliament, joined the gathering via Zoom to address the attendees. He said that the BJP has worked tirelessly under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and shared how the party had strategized this victory over many years. Shri Amar Goswami introduced him to the audience.
“This is an important victory in Bengal and Assam for the sake of India’s security and integrity,” said Dr. Adapa Prasad, President of OFBJP-USA, in his message to the gathering. He noted the historic timing of the Bengal win — coming on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, a son of Bengal whose vision laid the foundation for today’s BJP. He observed, “BJP has made good gains in Keralam in terms of seats and vote percentage and will be the ruling party in that state by next elections”.
Shri Vasudev Patel, General Secretary of OFBJP-USA, called the result “a sweet victory” and credited it to years of disciplined organizational work. “A lot of hard work has gone into this success over many years by BJP karyakartas on the ground. Today, that hard work has been rewarded by the people of India.”
Former OFBJP-USA President Krishna Reddy Anugula stated that despite it being a working day in the United States, more than 600 Indian Americans attended the event, reflecting the immense happiness and enthusiasm among the community over this historic victory.
OFBJP-USA Telangana Chapter Convener Vilas Reddy Jambula expressed his hope that Telangana too would soon have a BJP government and a double-engine government. He congratulated the successful organization of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s public meeting in Hyderabad and stated that Telangana Chapter committee volunteers are working dedicatedly toward strengthening the party and its mission in the state.
Speaker after speaker conveyed heartfelt appreciation for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin, whose leadership and grassroots organization were credited with delivering the unprecedented mandate.
Prominent community leaders and volunteers in attendance included Krishna Reddy Anugula, Jayesh Patel, Charan Singh, Albert Jasani, H.R. Shah, Dr. Sudhir Parikh, Piyush Patel, Gunjan Mishra, Kalpana Shukla, Deepti Jani, Vilas Jambula, Aravind Patel, Amit Pandey, Anand Gupta, Santosh Reddy, Ganesh Ramakrishnan, Pradeep Katta, Debol Gupta, Dr. Mukund Thakar, Sunil Nayak, Suresh Patel, Keshab, Ajay Goswami, Nilesh Dasondi, Arun Mehta, Govind Raj, Om Prakash, Atish Shah, and Kunal Joshi.
