A Delegation of students from Maharashtra visits Sri City
Explores Industrial Development as part of GOI’s
‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) Initiative
A 50-member delegation comprising students and faculty members from Maharashtra visited Sri City on Thursday under the ‘Yuva Sangam’ programme, a student exchange initiative organised as part of the Government of India’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) programme under the Ministry of Education. The visit aimed at providing the participants with first-hand exposure to Sri City’s rapid industrial growth and evolving economic ecosystem.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, MD of Sri City, praised the Ministry of Education for initiatives like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat that build unity and cultural exchange. He described Sri City’s transformation from a backward region into a vibrant industrial hub, now home to 250+ companies from 31 countries across automotive, electronics, FMCG, engineering, and logistics. With a strong presence of AC manufacturers, it is known as India’s “Cool City.” With cumulative investments of ₹80,000 crore and exports exceeding ₹60,000 crore, these industries drive ‘Make in India for the World’, while generating 75,000 jobs — nearly half held by women. Linking this to Yuva Sangam, he stressed Sri City’s role in skill development and youth empowerment, enabling communities and visiting students to witness and share in India’s growth story.
An interactive session followed the presentation, during which the students and faculty members sought clarifications on various aspects of Sri City’s planning, industrial and social infrastructure, industrial ecosystem, sustainability, and employment opportunities. The delegation expressed appreciation to Sri City for the opportunity, describing the visit as an insightful and enriching experience that helped them understand how integrated business cities function and how industries contribute to regional development and women’s empowerment.
As part of their visit, the Maharashtra student delegation toured Sri City’s industrial park, observing operations and appreciating its scale, world‑class infrastructure, clean environment, and job creation for local communities, especially women and youth.
The Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative celebrates cultural diversity, strengthens national integration, and promotes inter‑state interaction. For this edition in Andhra Pradesh, IIT Tirupati serves as the nodal institution.
