BASF and CSIR-IICT Partner to Host BASF Kids’ Lab in Hyderabad
BASF, in collaboration with CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), is hosting the BASF Kids’ Lab in Hyderabad from October 26 to October 31, 2026. Designed for children aged 8 to 12 years, the interactive educational initiative aims to spark curiosity in chemistry while raising awareness about climate action and environmental protection. The Hyderabad edition is set to engage 1,150 school children from local municipal and government schools, supported by the Education Department, Government of Telangana.
Corporate Social Responsibility and Expansion:
Developed globally by BASF and implemented in over 30 countries, the Kids’ Lab program has reached more than 62,000 students in India since its national launch in 2004. Relaunched in 2023 under BASF India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) umbrella with a refreshed focus on climate protection, the initiative has previously covered major cities including Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Mangalore, Bengaluru, and Delhi—as well as rural and tribal schools in the Nashik district.
Leadership Reflections and Student Impact:
Kim Höffken, Managing Director of BASF Digital Solutions Private Limited, highlighted that connecting chemistry with sustainability helps inspire the next generation to become responsible innovators. Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director of CSIR-IICT, appreciated the initiative for aligning with CSIR’s Jigyasa program to make experiential science education accessible to government school children. Demonstrating the program’s practical impact, Gouthami, a student from Government High School, Peteri, shared her excitement about performing hands-on activities like the water purification experiment.
