JioHotstar Unveils Trailer for ‘Student of the Year: After Dark’; Shanaya Kapoor to Play Dual Role in Dark Thriller

JioHotstar has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming thriller series, Student of the Year: After Dark, bringing a murder mystery twist to the iconic St. Teresa’s campus. Starring Shanaya Kapoor in a dual role alongside Abhinav Singh, Divik Sharma, Manya Grover, Deeya Damani, Adi Malik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Vivek Gomber, the show pivots from the franchise’s traditional glamorous competition to a high-stakes investigation. The storyline follows Aditi (Shanaya Kapoor) as she infiltrates the school and enters the Student of the Year contest to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of her twin sister and campus queen bee, Aayesha Malik (Shanaya Kapoor).

Cast and Creator Perspectives:
Shanaya Kapoor expressed her enthusiasm for playing dual roles: “Playing Ayesha and Aditi has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences for me as an actor. While the two sisters may look alike, they couldn’t be more different in their personalities. What appealed to me the most is how it takes a much-loved franchise into an unexpected and new territory…”

Reema Maya, Director, shared her vision for the reimagined franchise: “Student Of The Year – After Dark is grit, angst and heart. It is for the youth of now… I wanted to explore the relentless competition that our youth find themselves grappling with. What happens when the need to succeed becomes all-consuming – destroying friendships, and even oneself.”

Production and Themes:
Directed by Reema Maya, the series shifts the core theme from the dream of winning to the cost of winning, dissecting competitive youth culture through the lens of a murder mystery where the contest itself forms part of the ongoing investigation.
