Corteva Launches Mavilon™ to Revolutionize Rice Pest Management in India

HYDERABAD: Corteva Agriscience has announced the launch of Mavilon™, a groundbreaking granular insecticide designed to transform rice pest management from a reactive struggle into a proactive strategy. The product was officially unveiled at a major launch event in Hyderabad, attended by Corteva CEO Chuck Magro, alongside key agricultural stakeholders, channel partners, and local farmers.

Rice is the definitive staple of India’s daily diet and a vital pillar of the nation’s agricultural economy. However, cultivation is continuously threatened by destructive pests, most notably the Brown Planthopper (BPH) and the stem borer. Left unchecked, these pests cause severe crop stress, drastic yield losses, and degraded grain quality.

Traditionally, Indian farmers have managed these threats reactively waiting to spray until visible damage has already set in. This delay often means the crop is compromised before the first countermeasure is even applied. Furthermore, farmers routinely grapple with peak-season labor shortages and unpredictable weather windows, making traditional foliar sprays a logistical gamble.

A Shift to Proactive Protection:
Mavilon™ aims to eliminate that uncertainty. Designed for a single application between 30 to 35 days after transplanting, the granular insecticide builds a shield around the crop before pests can take hold.

Extended Residual Control: Mavilon™ provides up to 60 days of continuous protection against Brown Planthoppers and up to 15 days against stem borers, safeguarding the rice plants through their most critical growth and yield-determining phases.

By swapping out multiple, labor-intensive foliar sprays for a single granular application, the breakthrough solution simplifies farm operations.
