AMANA Global Foundation Deligates Meet Minister Nara Lokesh

A delegation from Andhra Pradesh Muslim Association of North America (AMANA) led by National President Abdul Quddus Mulla and Bay Area Chapter President Karimulla Shaik, met with Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT & Human Resources Development, Sri. Nara Lokesh garu, during his recent visit to Palo Alto, California. They submitted a memorandum detailing the Muslim community’s objections and concerns regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024.
The memorandum highlighted how the bill conflicts with key constitutional protections and disregards several Supreme Court rulings on religious property rights. It explained that, if enacted, the bill would weaken and dilute the Waqf Act, opening the door for the takeover of Waqf properties. In response, Sri. Nara Lokesh garu acknowledged that the bill is currently with the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and assured the delegation that he would convey their concerns to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri. Chandrababu Naidu Garu. He also pledged the TDP party’s support to address the issues raised in the memorandum. Other delegation members included Umar Shariff and Mahammad Ghouse Shaik (National and Bay Area Chapter General Secretaries), as well as key members Arif Mohammed, Kaleem Mohammed, Aarif Mohammed and others.
