Cleartrip Launches Bus 2.0 to Expand Multi-Modal Travel Platform and Connect 6.5 Lakh Routes Across India
Cleartrip, a Flipkart company, has officially launched Bus 2.0, an advanced road travel experience connecting users to over 6.5 lakh routes across 6,000+ cities. By reaching destinations outside the scope of traditional air and rail networks, the platform integrates bus booking seamlessly alongside flights, hotels, and trains on a single application.
Gen Z Adoption and Changing Travel Trends:
Bus travel has experienced a significant surge driven largely by younger generations:
Demographic Shift: More than 55% of bus bookings on Cleartrip originate from Gen Z travellers.
Travel Motivations: Students, solo adventurers, and early-career professionals frequently utilize buses for budget-friendly weekend trips, visits home, and impromptu getaways.
Reliability: Buses serve as a dependable alternative during periods of peak demand when train seats are scarce, making domestic road transit more accessible than ever.
Inventory Partnerships and Network Coverage:
Bus 2.0 consolidates a massive inventory by partnering with both leading private operators and state transport corporations:
Private and Public Operators: The platform provides access to approximately 95% of the nation’s private bus inventory alongside a rapidly expanding network of government-operated services.
Terminal Convenience: Travellers can access the depth and variety typically found only at physical bus stations directly from their mobile phones.
Leadership Perspectives and Strategic Vision:
Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer – Air at Cleartrip, noted that buses link more regions of India than any other transport medium, often serving as a young traveller’s initial introduction to independent trip planning. He emphasized that Bus 2.0 was engineered specifically with this user base in mind to provide flexibility, broad coverage, and routing reliability.
The rollout of Bus 2.0 represents a pivotal milestone in Cleartrip’s ongoing evolution toward a unified multi-modal travel ecosystem, following previous expansions into railway bookings and international hotel supplies.
