GE Aerospace Invests INR 100 Crore to Boost Aviation Component Manufacturing at Pune Facility
PUNE: GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of INR 100 Crore in its Pune manufacturing facility to expand production capacity and integrate advanced engineering technologies. This latest capital infusion will fund the implementation of state-of-the-art welding technologies, automated inspection equipment, precision tools, gauges, and critical infrastructure upgrades to meet growing global demand for high-quality aircraft engine components.
This funding builds upon INR 410 Crore invested over the previous two years, bringing GE Aerospace’s total investment in the Pune site to over INR 510 Crore within a three-year period. While earlier phases focused on automation and process modernization, the new infrastructure will directly scale up component production for major global commercial engine programs, including the GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and CFM International’s LEAP engines.

Strengthening the Global Aerospace Supply Chain:
The Pune facility serves as a vital node in GE Aerospace’s international supply chain network. By manufacturing critical, high-precision components for commercial aircraft, the facility anchors a robust domestic industrial ecosystem.
Supplier Integration: The plant collaborates directly with over 300 local suppliers, feeding into a broader network of more than 2,200 GE Aerospace suppliers across India.
Precision Standards: The introduction of specialized fixtures and advanced inspection equipment ensures that components manufactured in India meet stringent international aviation safety and performance metrics.
Skilled Workforce and Talent Development:
Alongside hardware upgrades, the facility drives significant localized workforce training to sustain its high-tech manufacturing operations.
The Weld School: The site operates a dedicated training division offering specialized Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding certifications.
Apprenticeship Pipeline: A structured two-year program inducts over 500 apprentices annually, combining classroom instruction with practical shop-floor experience.
Industrial Impact: Since 2015, the Pune facility has trained more than 5,000 production associates, establishing a highly skilled talent pool for India’s domestic aerospace and defense manufacturing sectors.
