Mahindra Launches BE 6 SPORTEQ With BaaS, New Three-Screen Cockpit
Indian automotive giant Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced its latest flagship electric vehicle, the BE 6 SPORTEQ, ushering in a new wave of software-defined technology and flexible ownership models in the country’s EV landscape.
Under the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, the BE 6 SPORTEQ is available at an attractive starting price of ₹11.45 lakh, with an additional battery usage charge of ₹3.75 per kilometer. For buyers opting to purchase the vehicle outright with the battery included, prices start at ₹19.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 59 kWh ‘One’ entry variant and go up to ₹26.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the range-topping variants. Deliveries are scheduled to commence on August 26.
Variants, Performance, and Battery Options
The electric SUV is offered in a total of eight variants across three battery pack capacities tailored to different driving ranges and user requirements:
– 59 kWh
– 70 kWh
– 79 kWh
In terms of performance, the specialized Formula E Freedom Edition variant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.44 seconds. The SUV is offered in 12 distinct color options.
Futuristic Cabin and In-Car Entertainment
The BE 6 SPORTEQ showcases a major cabin redesign headlined by an expansive ‘three-screen coast-to-coast’ digital cockpit stretching seamlessly across the dashboard.
Positioned as a true software-defined vehicle, the SUV introduces several segment-first tech and lifestyle features:
AI-Powered Voice Assistant: Integrates Google Gemini AI-driven ‘Tech Talk’ for natural-language in-cabin interactions and controls.
In-Car Entertainment Firsts: Introduces India’s first built-in in-car karaoke experience alongside dedicated in-car gaming and immersive Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
NFC Digital Key: Allows seamless keyless entry and ignition using compatible Apple and Samsung smartphones.
Mahindra also announced that it plans to leverage Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates in the future to roll out select new features and software enhancements to its existing EV customer base.
