COWE to open 100 Aveksha Day Care Centers across India

Two Aveksha Day Care Centers for Construction Workers’ Children opened on the occasion of Labour Day on Wednesday.  One was opened at My Home Apas Residential Project at Kokapet Village, Gandipet Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. The other one was at MHC Vipina Residential at Manmole Village, Ramchandrapuram, Sangareddy Dist

My Home Apas center was inaugurated by Ravi Kiran Tangirala, Head of Mass Mutual India, Ranga Reddy, VP, Progress Software Development Pvt. Ltd and A.S. Srinivas Rao, Chief Finance Officer, My Home Constructions Pvt. Ltd.

The My Home Vipina center was inaugurated by J. Ramu Rao, Executive Vice Chairman, My Home Constructions Pvt. Ltd and Mrs. J. Meghana Rao, Founder Director, Meru International Schools.  COWE members Uma Ghurka, Madhu Tyagi, Aartee Patil, Jyotsana Cheruvu, Rama Tirumareddy, Darpana and Prakruti Rao were also present.

These two centers are the second and third-Day Care Centers for Construction workers. The first one was opened at My Home Nishada at the beginning of this year.

Ramu Rao said construction workers are the backbone of any construction project.  We jumped at the idea of a Creche for construction workers. We are deeply committed to the cause.  COWE said that it would like to open 100 centers across India, but there may be a need for 100 centers within Telangana itself.  He assured them of their full support.

My Home Infrastructures Pvt Ltd is the first real estate company in the state to open Day Care Centers for Construction workers’ Children. It is a free service shared Mrs. J. Meghana Rao, addressing the gathering on the occasion.   Meghana also expressed her desire to make Meru International School work with Aveksha in designing the curriculum.

Ravi Kiran Tangirala said Aveksha Day Care Center is a wonderful initiative and goes a long way in empowering industrial workers. Ranga Reddy also appreciated the efforts of COWE in this regard.  Srinivasa Rao said it is wonderful to know that women at COWE are empowering other women while whole world is talking about women empowerment.

COWE India so far opened 12 Aveksha Day Care Centers across different industries. Now with the addition of two centers, the total count has reached 14. COWE aims to open a total of 20 centers in the first phase. In the future it would like to open 100 centers across India said Uma Gurkha, one of the founding members of COWE

Rich, Wealthy, and white-collar workers have excellent daycare centres. Some IT companies provide daycare centers at their place of work.  Then what about poor construction workers?  COWE Aveksha Day Care Centers is the answer.

Aveksha is a National Project initiated by the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) and is not just limited to Telangana. After completing the 20 centres in Telangana, our vision is to have Aveksha centres across INDIA informed Uma Gurkha.

Aveksha, which means ‘To Take Care Of’ is a daycare facility meant for children of industrial workers, especially in the industrial sector and the underprivileged sections of society

COWE successfully launched on May 10th, 2022, with the blessings of Principal Secretary, Telangana, MD TSIIC and DMD SIDBI, 4 Aveksha day-care centres, each one in the industrial Areas of Jeedimetla, Cherlapally, Uppal and Kallakal came up first. Thereafter four more Centres, each one at Moulali Pashamailaram, Genome Valley and My Home Nishada at Kokapet were started. It opened four centers in March.  And now two more are opened. With these, it has opened a total of 14 centers.

The Impact of the 12 centres so far has been that 200 children have benefitted.  150 mothers were empowered to work.  Women who are so far homemakers but are now employed at Aveksha are 25 in number.  Many women have been financially empowered, and 60% of these could take up jobs for the first time, purely because of this facility. Besides, the discipline and creativity of children saw drastic improvement.

The centres are equipped with CCTV to monitor day-to-day activities and necessary amenities have been provided to create a joyful learning environment that encourages the toddlers to enjoy their stay throughout the day.

Each of the day-care centres is spread over an area of 500 to 1000 sqft. They are fully equipped to take care of 20-30 children from 9 am to 6 pm. Each centre will have three staff members, a Coordinator, a Sr. Caretaker, and a Jr. Caretaker. A vigilance team, monitoring CC footage, qualified trainers and systems auditors ensure best standards are maintained.

COWE aims to empower women by facilitating skills through capacity-building initiatives and making them successful entrepreneurs. Keeping it in view COWE conceived a novel idea of extending support to working women, especially in the industrial sector and underprivileged sections of society. This resulted in the launching of Aveksha daycare Centres, a facility to provide free daycare to under-privileged children of industrial workers and labourers, so the women can focus on their jobs and economic independence.
