Juno Joule Bio Fuels Breaks Ground on Mega Cluster CBG Project in Telangana
Juno Joule Bio Fuels: Juno Joule Bio Fuels Private Limited has officially commenced the construction of its premier Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) facility in the Narmetta Industrial Area of Siddipet. This project represents a major milestone in India’s renewable energy landscape, focusing on converting waste into clean fuel while boosting the rural economy of Telangana.
Project Scale and Phased Investment:
The Narmetta facility is the cornerstone of an ambitious cluster development plan involving 10 CBG plants. Each unit is designed with a capacity of 10 Tons Per Day (TPD), aiming for a cumulative output of 100 TPD. The total capital outlay for the entire cluster is estimated at INR 700 crore.
The development is structured into three distinct stages:
Phase 1: Includes three units at Narmetta with an investment of INR 210 crore.
Phase 2 & 3: Will see the addition of seven more plants, with the full cluster expected to be operational by 2029–2030.
High-Profile Groundbreaking Ceremony:
The event saw participation from a diverse group of national and state leaders. Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT and Industry (Telangana), and Shri Bhubaneswar Kalita, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, led the ceremony.
Other notable attendees included MP Shri M. Raghunandan Rao, MLA Shri T. Harish Rao, and various former parliamentarians and senior IAS officers. Representatives from GAIL (India) Limited and Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL) were also present, highlighting the project’s industrial significance.
Strategic Impact and Environmental Benefits:
Operating under the Central Government’s CBG–CGD Synchronisation Scheme and the GOBARdhan initiative, the project aims to integrate renewable gas into the existing City Gas Distribution network.
The plants will process a variety of organic materials, including:
- Agricultural residue (such as paddy straw)
- Poultry waste
- Cattle dung
By utilizing these materials, the project directly tackles the issue of stubble burning and greenhouse gas emissions. Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized that such initiatives reinforce Telangana’s position as a hub for green infrastructure and provide new economic avenues for the farming community.
Market Integration and Future Outlook:
Juno Joule has already secured offtake agreements with GAIL and BGL. This ensures that the gas produced will be channeled into the Hyderabad region for use in transport (CNG) and industrial applications.
With India moving toward a mandatory 5% CBG blending mandate by 2028–29, CEO Nagasharath Rayapati noted that their cluster-based model is specifically designed to provide the scale and reliability needed to meet these national targets. The project is expected to significantly reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels while creating local employment and increasing farmer income.
