Sri City Hosts Workshop on Responsible Business Practices
Empowering manufacturing enterprises to align with Agenda 2030 goals
Sri City, in collaboration with the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), hosted a one-day in-person workshop on ‘Responsible Business Practices’ at Station S Auditorium, tailored for the manufacturing sector’s alignment with Agenda 2030 goals. Agenda 2030, adopted by the United Nations, sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure inclusive, sustainable growth by 2030.
The workshop opened with inaugural remarks from Mr. Rathinavel Rajan, Chair of the SICCI CSR Committee, who emphasised the initiative’s purpose of enabling industries to embed human rights and sustainability into their core operations. Leading the sessions were Ms. Archana Kotecha, CEO and Founder of The Remedy Project, and Ms. Nusrat Khan, Business and Human Rights Specialist from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). They provided participants with valuable insights into global, Japanese, and Indian regulatory frameworks, while addressing sector-specific challenges faced by manufacturing enterprises. The program unfolded across multiple sessions, focusing on Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), regulatory compliance, ethical risk management, and the transition from traditional CSR to Responsible Business Conduct (RBC). Through interactive group exercises and presentations, participants applied the four HRDD steps—identifying human rights impacts, integrating findings, monitoring effectiveness, and communicating actions—ensuring practical engagement with responsible business practices.
Commending the initiative, Sri City MD Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy said, “We deeply appreciate the organisers’ foresight in bringing this timely and impactful workshop to Sri City. It reflects a proactive commitment to embedding responsible business values in the heart of India’s manufacturing ecosystem.”
The event, which was coordinated by Mr. V. Sivakumar, AGM, HR/Sri City, concluded with closing remarks, questions, and a roadmap for next steps, reinforcing Sri City’s role as a hub for sustainable and responsible industrial growth.
