Pramukh Swami Maharaj Biography Recognized As World’s Longest By Guinness World Records
Guinness World Records has officially certified a 13-volume biography titled Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj: Vistrut Jivan ane Karya as the world’s longest biography written by a single author. Spanning 8,848 pages and consisting of 2,146,447 words, the monumental work chronicles the 94-year life of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the late spiritual leader of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha who lived from 1921 to 2016.
The comprehensive text was written by Sanskrit scholar Sadhu Adarshjivandas, PhD, following an intensive research and writing period lasting 38 months between July 2017 and August 2020. The biography details Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s spiritual leadership, profound humility, selfless service, and global community outreach throughout his life and passing.
The official Guinness World Records certificate was presented to His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the OVO Arena Wembley during celebrations for his 93rd birth anniversary. The historic presentation took place before 11,000 attendees at the venue and a global audience watching via a live webcast.
Senior Adjudicator Carl Saville praised the achievement during the presentation, highlighting the organization’s mission to document unique human accomplishments. Author Sadhu Adarshjivandas reflected on the milestone by emphasizing that the subject’s life of deep spirituality, global harmony, and compassion was far more important than the writing itself.
Beyond its literary scale, the biography serves as a historical archive preserving the spiritual leader’s legacy, with more than 310,000 copies already sold. This milestone follows another recent Guinness World Records achievement for BAPS in February 2026, when 12,723 children in Vadodara, India, gathered for the largest simultaneous recital of Sanskrit verses from the Satsang Diksha out of more than 15,000 children who memorized all 315 verses.
