‘Premane Oorilo’ Creates a Festive Atmosphere for Single-Screen Theatres, Growing from 56 Shows to 1,600 Shows
A film’s content and audience connect matter more than star power or its budget, and Premane Oorilo (released as Premada Oorali in Kannada) is proving this at the box office. What began with just 56 shows and collections of ₹12 lakh on its opening day has reportedly grown into a phenomenal success, reaching 1,600 shows by its third Sunday and achieving collections of ₹13 crore in a single day. At a time when small films struggle to cross the ₹10 crore mark, the film has reportedly amassed ₹78 crore within just three weeks, rewriting box-office records and bringing a festive atmosphere to single-screen theatres.
The film’s growing popularity is evident from the huge crowds gathering outside theatres, with police personnel reportedly stepping in to manage the rush. Single-screen theatre owners are expressing their happiness, describing the response as an unprecedented celebration in their lifetime. Despite receiving lucrative offers from leading platforms and industry players, the makers have chosen not to accept any deals that could affect the film’s theatrical run. The team has also officially clarified through a press note that no OTT agreement has been finalised, reaffirming its commitment to giving the film a full theatrical run.
Released in Telugu on October 2, Premane Oorilo received encouraging reviews and is steadily gaining momentum through positive word of mouth, following a similar trend to its Kannada original. At a time when many films prioritise OTT deals, the makers’ decision to focus on the theatrical experience, even while reportedly turning down lucrative digital offers, has drawn attention. The film’s journey stands as an example of how strong content, audience appreciation and positive word of mouth can drive a film’s success beyond expectations.
