Brahmastra2 in Talks with Prime Focus for New Studio Partnership

Ayan Mukerji’s highly anticipated Brahmastra2 is reportedly making progress on finding a new studio partner, with discussions underway with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus. While the talks are said to have reached an advanced stage, a deal is yet to be finalised.

Prime Focus’ association with the first Brahmastra is believed to be one of the key factors behind the latest discussions. The 2022 film relied heavily on visual effects, with Prime Focus playing a role in its VFX production. With the company now expanding its footprint through major projects such as Ramayana, its potential involvement in Brahmastra2 could bring significant VFX expertise to the sequel.

The development comes after Dharma Productions, which was closely associated with the first instalment, reportedly opted out of the sequel. Ayan had subsequently been exploring options for a new studio partner. Talks with Yash Raj Films did not progress, while Jio Studios also reportedly decided against investing in the sequel.

If the Prime Focus partnership materialises, it could provide greater clarity on the production of Brahmastra2. Ayan is already working on the film’s pre-production, with the shoot expected to begin in April 2027 after Ranbir Kapoor completes Ramayana.

Alia Bhatt is also expected to return as Isha, reprising her role from the first film. With the sequel expected to scale up its visual spectacle, the choice of a new production partner could prove crucial to the film’s ambitious plans.
