Vi Introduces India’s First Prepaid Family Plan with Nationwide Data Sharing
Telecom operator Vi (Vodafone Idea) has launched India’s first prepaid family plan, allowing prepaid consumers to pool and share mobile data with family members across the country. Built upon the brand philosophy “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP,” the new offering transitions mobile data from an isolated individual resource to a shared family asset. The plan gives users the flexibility to assist family members whenever someone is running low on data, regardless of their physical location in India.
Plan Mechanics and App-Based Management:
The prepaid family feature is managed directly through the Vi App. Any active Vi prepaid subscriber can set up a family group consisting of up to four members one primary member and up to three secondary members. Each member retains their own independent prepaid plan, recharge schedule, and validity, while gaining the capability to transfer 500 MB of data at a time to any family member in need. Additionally, all family group members receive guaranteed discounts of up to 10% on every recharge completed through the Vi App.
Brand Campaign and Strategic Vision:
To launch the proposition, Vi unveiled a new campaign starring actor Shah Rukh Khan, illustrating how families spread across different Indian cities can maintain continuous digital connectivity. Highlighting the strategy behind the product launch, Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer at Vi, stated that the future of prepaid relies on giving customers greater flexibility in how they use data rather than just offering higher volume. He emphasized that the Vi Prepaid Family plan challenges conventional mobile offerings, taking a bold step toward making prepaid plans more inclusive and aligned with how families stay connected nationwide.
