Tata Motors’ Kaushalya Programme Empowers 23,000+ Youth, Achieves 5,000+ Placements
Launched in 2021, Tata Motors’ flagship “Kaushalya Programme” has emerged as a cornerstone of industrial skill development in India. Ahead of World Youth Skills Day, the company reported that the initiative has enrolled over 23,000 youth, successfully bridging the divide between academic education and industry requirements. With a 100% placement rate, the programme has already empowered more than 5,000 graduates to secure roles across the automotive ecosystem.
An “Earn-and-Learn” Model:
The programme operates across key manufacturing hubs, including Pune, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Sanand, and Dharwad. It offers a fully sponsored Diploma in Mechatronics, blending rigorous classroom theory with immersive shop-floor experience. The curriculum, designed with industry experts, focuses on future-ready technologies, including:
Automobile Engineering and Manufacturing Technology.
Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, and Automation.
Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 applications.
Inclusivity and Global Impact:
Tata Motors remains committed to fostering a diverse workforce, with 21% female participation and 25% of trainees from affirmative action categories. Beyond domestic placements at reputed organizations like Tata Steel, Wipro, and Zydus, the programme has unlocked global career pathways. Notably, 50 graduates have secured international positions at Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing facility in Nitra, Slovakia.

By providing technical education and real-world exposure, the Kaushalya programme is creating a sustainable talent pipeline for an increasingly electrified and software-defined automotive industry. As the initiative scales to prepare 5,000 industry-ready trainees annually, it continues to play a vital role in fueling India’s trajectory as a global manufacturing powerhouse.
