N.A.N. GreenMet and Silox Group Announce Battery Recycling Joint Venture
Silox Group: N.A.N. GreenMet, established by Navin Agarwal, and the Belgium-based Silox Group have entered into a 50:50 joint venture named N.A.N. Silox GreenMet Pvt. Ltd. This partnership aims to build a sophisticated battery recycling and critical minerals recovery platform located in Andhra Pradesh. The facility is designed to process end-of-life lithium-ion batteries sourced from the electronics, energy storage, and electric vehicle (EV) sectors to recover valuable strategic materials, including cobalt, lithium, manganese, and nickel.
Capacity and Technological Innovation:
The project will be executed in phases, targeting significant processing capacities:
The platform is expected to achieve a capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes per annum for battery shredding.
It is planned to reach 20,000 tonnes per annum for hydrometallurgical processing.
Utilizing Silox’s hydrometallurgical technology which has already been validated in India the venture plans to explore the production of cathode active materials (CAM), precursor cathode active materials (pCAM), battery-grade metal salts, and applications for second-life batteries.
Supporting India’s Energy Transition:
This initiative is intended to bolster India’s domestic recovery capabilities for critical minerals while supporting the nation’s expanding energy storage and EV ecosystem. Navin Agarwal, Founder & Chairman of N.A.N. GreenMet, described the initiative as vital circular economy infrastructure for “Viksit Bharat,” noting that it recovers domestic resources that would otherwise exit India’s supply chain. J.C. Bogaert, Chairman of Silox Group, added that the venture aligns with their strategy to close the loop on critical metals and positions India as a key player in the global battery ecosystem
