Godrej Industries Group Champions LGBTQIA+ Inclusion with “Pride@Godrej 2026” Initiatives
India: Solidifying its decades-long commitment to fostering an equitable corporate ecosystem, the Godrej Industries Group hosted its landmark Pride@Godrej 2026 celebration at its headquarters, Godrej One. The day-length convention united corporate executives, grassroots activists, authors, and community allies to reflect on the evolving landscape of queer rights, workplace safety, and corporate social responsibility in India.
The celebrations commenced with the annual Pride March across the Godrej One campus, spearheaded by this year’s Pride Marshal, Sudhir Sitapati (CEO of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd). Demonstrating that diversity must extend beyond corporate boardrooms to the industrial floor, Sitapati unveiled the Pride in Manufacturing toolkit. This foundational resource provides actionable frameworks for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and heavy manufacturing units to build legally compliant, safe, and dignified workplaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Key Institutional Milestones Launched at the Event:
“Queer India Now!” Anthology: The Godrej DEI Lab, in collaboration with Westland Books, officially launched its premier anthology under the specialized publishing imprint Queer Directions. Edited by prominent journalists and activists Dhrubo Jyoti and Dhamini Ratnam, the volume acts as an intersectional repository of contemporary queer literature, art, and lived experiences across India.
The Queer India Fellowship: Administered by the Godrej Foundation, this newly minted 12-month leadership incubator provides emerging LGBTQIA+ trailblazers with executive mentorship, funding, and career placement resources, targeting industries that have historically lacked diverse representation.
Driving Legal and Cultural Equity:
The evening segment featured an address by Chief Guest Justice A.P. Shah, former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. Justice Shah emphasized that corporate allyship must be rooted firmly in constitutional morality, human dignity, and systemic access to equal opportunities.
“Queer inclusion is not only about representation. It is about creating environments where individuals can dream freely, participate fully, and shape the future with confidence.”
The event featured a sprawling queer bazaar, inclusive talent acquisition hiring booths, and performance art. Godrej’s Pride initiatives will extend throughout June across regional hubs, including a satellite Pride march at its greenfield manufacturing plant in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, which coincides with the launch of Transcafe a hospitality venture entirely managed and operated by transgender individuals.
