Godrej Industries Group Hosts Third Edition of National Chemistry Day Summit in Mumbai
Godrej Industries Group (GIG)—through its constituent companies Godrej Industries (Chemicals) and Astec LifeSciences—hosted the third edition of the National Chemistry Day Summit in Mumbai on August 26, 2026. Centered around the theme “Staying Resilient in a New Age World,” the summit convened chemical industry leaders to discuss how businesses can adapt, innovate, and build long-term value amid transforming market dynamics, shifting supply chains, technological disruptions, and sustainability challenges.
Key Insights and Leadership Perspectives
Industry Collaboration: Reflecting on the event, Vishal Sharma, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Godrej Industries (Chemicals) and Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences, emphasized that resilience requires anticipating future challenges rather than merely managing disruptions. He noted that because chemical companies act simultaneously as competitors, suppliers, and customers, the industry must collaborate collectively rather than operating in isolation to build a future-ready ecosystem.
Ecosystem and Enterprise Panels: The summit featured two major panel discussions. The first panel, “Resilience Beyond the Enterprise,” explored integrated value-chain collaboration, R&D partnerships, and supporting infrastructure. The second panel, “Resilience for the Enterprise,” focused on organizational strength, customer centricity, talent development, and balancing short-term execution with long-term R&D.
Emerging Priorities: Dedicated sessions addressed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence in the chemical sector—featuring a keynote by Bain & Company Senior Partner Sambit Patra—and the critical talent imperative regarding attracting, developing, and retaining professionals, discussed by industry human resources leaders Shefali Kohli and Poonam Burman.
