The makers were careful not to reveal the film’s main plot during promotions. Even the trailer only hinted at a fantasy element without giving away the real story. But interestingly, the key plot point reportedly surfaced from an unexpected place—a short synopsis on a ticket-booking platform.

And that was only the beginning.

As soon as the plot point came out, social media users began looking for similar stories from the past. Many immediately pointed to the 1991 Hollywood film ‘Body Parts.’

So, is Dulquer’s new film actually similar to an old Hollywood story? Or is it a familiar concept presented with a fresh treatment? Here’s what the discussion is all about.

A Small Twist From a Booking App

Director Nahas Hidhayath’s name naturally brings back memories of the success of ‘RDX,’ which is one reason why expectations for ‘I’m Game’ are high.

Dulquer too added to the curiosity when he hinted during the trailer launch that the film has a fantasy element, but stopped short of revealing what it actually was.

That was enough for audiences to start guessing.

People began closely examining every frame of the trailer and coming up with different theories about the story. But while curiosity was at its peak, a short synopsis updated on a booking platform reportedly revealed the film’s central idea.

What Is ‘I’m Game’ Actually About?

According to the leaked description, the film’s protagonist loses his hand in an accident and undergoes a hand transplant, receiving someone else’s hand.

So far, it sounds like a straightforward medical situation.

But this is where the real story reportedly begins.

The new hand is apparently not an ordinary one. It has a past. Its previous owner died under unusual circumstances, and the hand now seems determined to take revenge on those responsible for that death.

Think about that for a moment.

A hand transplanted onto another person’s body is now trying to settle unfinished scores from its previous life.

It was this particular plot point that immediately reminded many people of an old Hollywood film.

“Isn’t This Like ‘Body Parts’?”

The comparison is understandable.

The 1991 Hollywood film ‘Body Parts’ follows a somewhat similar premise. After losing his hand in an accident, a man receives a hand transplant. However, things soon take a disturbing turn when the transplanted hand begins behaving on its own and becomes increasingly violent.

The protagonist eventually discovers that the hand once belonged to a serial killer.

This is why comparisons between ‘I’m Game’ and ‘Body Parts’ have started appearing.

However, there appears to be an important difference in the way the two stories develop.

In ‘Body Parts,’ the transplanted hand becomes violent because of its previous owner’s nature. In ‘I’m Game,’ according to the leaked plot description, the hand appears to have a specific purpose—it wants revenge for the death of its former owner.

So while the basic idea may sound familiar, the treatment and direction of the story could be different.

These “Haunted Hand” Stories Are Not New

There is another interesting part to this discussion.

‘Body Parts’ was not the first film to explore the idea of transplanted hands carrying something from their previous owners.

The concept has been around for almost a century.

Back in 1924, a film called ‘The Hands of Orlac’ explored a similar idea. The story follows a pianist who loses his hands and receives the hands of a murderer through a transplant. What happens afterward, and how those hands begin affecting his life and mind, forms the central theme of the film.

In other words, the idea of a hand transplant followed by strange behaviour connected to its previous owner is not entirely new to cinema.

It has appeared in different forms for decades.

Does an Old Concept Automatically Mean an Old Story?

Not really.

If you go deep enough into film history, it becomes difficult to find a completely new basic idea. Love stories, revenge dramas, reincarnation stories and murder mysteries have all been told many times before.

What changes is the treatment.

The real question is not whether a particular concept has been used before. The question is how a filmmaker presents that idea to a new generation.

That is where ‘I’m Game’ will face its real test.

Nahas Hidhayath has his own filmmaking style, and even if the basic concept has similarities with older films, what matters is whether he has turned it into an engaging thriller.

Has the Leak Hurt the Film or Helped It?

The makers reportedly tried to keep this particular element of the story a secret. The idea may have been to let audiences discover the surprise inside the theatre.

But with the plot point now being widely discussed, the situation has taken an interesting turn.

On one hand, the surprise may have been revealed earlier than intended.
