Artificial Intelligence: AI has taken another massive step that could change the world. An autonomous AI agent developed by China’s Alibaba DAMO Academy has successfully identified four new superconductors. Alongside this, another international research team used machine learning to discover two more new superconducting materials.

Superconductors are special materials that can transmit electricity with almost zero energy loss. They play a crucial role in the development of quantum computers, MRI scanners, Maglev trains, and next-generation power grids.

Discovering new superconductors is no easy task. The process usually takes years or even decades, as scientists have to analyze and lab-test millions of material combinations. However, these latest studies show that AI can dramatically speed up this research.
