Bharatanatyam performance enthrals audience in Sri City
Sri City, February 14, 2026: In an effort to promote local talent in traditional art forms, Srivani, the spiritual and literary forum of Sri City, organised a Bharatanatyam recital at the Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple premises on Saturday.
Pranitha, Harshini, Harshitashree, and Joshnika, disciples of Kancharla Sulochana from K. S. Kala Nilayam, Sullurupeta, presented a series of classical dance performances. The recital commenced with Purspanjali, Ganesh Prarthana and Swagatam Krishna, steadily built momentum through successive presentations. The dancers demonstrated strong command over taala and laya, precise posture, and expressive satvika abhinaya. Their graceful movements, expressive storytelling, and neat footwork captivated the audience, while the vocal accompaniment enhanced the overall presentation. The organisers felicitated the young performers with mementos in recognition of their talent.
Enhancing the devotional atmosphere, Kancharla Chandralekha and CH Vamsi together rendered three keertanas composed by saint-poet Annamacharya.
Commenting on the programme, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City, remarked, “Through initiatives under Srivani, we remain committed to supporting budding artists while fostering wider community involvement in traditional cultural and devotional art forms.”
Mr. Palleti Balaji coordinated the programme. The dance performance was preceded by a special pooja to the presiding deity. Apart from the Sri City community, devotees from nearby villages also attended. Teertha prasadam and anna prasadam were distributed to all devotees after the event.
