New Delhi: Honourable Chief Minister Shri A Revanth Reddy demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to step down from the post for not removing CEC Gyanesh Kumar and owing moral responsibility to the deletion of more than 13 crore votes from 140 crore population in the country. The Chief Minister warned that people will revolt if the BJP makes attempts to retain power through the back door by using the Election Commission as a shield.
Raids by the ED, Income Tax Department, and CBI would no longer save the BJP government at the centre , the CM said, demanding the PM to immediately dismiss CEC Gyanesh Kumar. If Modi failed to do so, CM Revanth Reddy said that the prime minister should resign from the post or people will dethrone Modi from the prime minister seat.
The Chief Minister participated in the Vote Bachao… Desh Bachao’ movement led by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Senior Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi, KC Venugopal and leaders of the INDIA alliance were also present. All the leaders marched to Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking to the media after paying tributes to Gandhi, CM Revanth Reddy said that the “Vote Bachao… Desh Bachao” movement is not merely a struggle for the Congress party or the INDIA alliance, but a movement to safeguard the rights of the common people of the country. There were 81 crore voters in the country during the 2014 elections and the number rose to 91 crore by 2019. The voter count stood at 97 crore in 2024. Pointing out that the country’s population has reached 140 crore, the Chief Minister demanded that Modi explain to the nation how 13 crore votes went missing instead of the voter count increasing further.
The CM recalled that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Bhagat Singh fought valiantly—risking their lives—to secure freedom for the country. Dr. BR Ambedkar ensured the right to vote for everyone, regardless of whether they were rich or poor, the CM added that, until now, the votes of the poor had never been under threat, regardless of how many elections were held.
The Chief Minister alleged that Narendra Modi and CEC Gyanesh Kumar were attempting to snatch away the constitutional right to vote from marginalized sections. The CM alleged that the BJP conspired to let the police attacks on opposition leaders who question the Election Commission and the Commission’s refusal to meet leaders who approach them to lodge complaints
CM Revanth Reddy also accused the BJP of coming to power by dividing the country’s people along lines of caste, religion, region, and language. Today, people are being split into two categories- those with votes and those without.
The Chief Minister castigated Modi and Gyanesh Kumar manipulated the situation to create a divide, placing BJP supporters on one side and the poor who opposed the party on the other. The CM further alleged that the votes of Dalits, Girijans, Adivasis, and minorities are being specifically targeted and deleted in the SIR.
