Indian Government Declares 23 Individuals as Terrorists
The Indian government has cracked down heavily on terrorism. As part of this crackdown, 23 individuals associated with Pakistan-based terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and their affiliates have been declared as terrorists. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued orders designating them as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The Home Ministry stated that these individuals face allegations of being involved in terror recruitment, infiltration, training, smuggling weapons via drones, and planning attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. With this latest announcement, the number of Pakistan-based terrorists identified by the Center has risen to 80.
The list announced by the Home Ministry includes Abdul Rauf, Hafiz Khalid Waleed, and Rana Iftikhar, who are considered close associates of Lashkar founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. Additionally, the list contains others linked to the 2016 terror attack on the Nagrota army camp and the 2018 attack on the Sunjwan military station.
